Sponsor Spotlight: Goalline

A Halifax-based company is making it easier for sport associations across North America to manage and operate their organizations.
Goalline Sports Administration Systems offers a software package that allows sports groups and organizations to update schedules, track standings and statistics, and keep their members informed at the click of a mouse. They’re also the official software sponsor for Sport Nova Scotia.
“We’re a sports administration company that offers our clientele a complete suite of management tools,” says Mike Johnson, vice-president of Goalline. “Organizations in a multitude of sports across the province are currently utilizing our software, so it was a natural conversation with Sport Nova Scotia to see how we can work together.”
If you or your children participate in a local league, chances are you’ve already seen what Goalline does. Their software package allows leagues to set up websites where participants can quickly find information without having to pick up a phone or track down a league administrator. They’ve built websites for organizations like the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League and the Metro Basketball Association.
It’s a booming business: The Halifax company launched in 2001 and has virtually doubled in size in each of the past five years, Johnson says. They now serve more than 1,100 organizations across North America.
“Technology is rapidly bringing the world online. The days of league organizers sitting around a kitchen table drafting a schedule are slowly dwindling. A product like Goalline really fits a niche market allowing sports organizations to manage themselves online on a continual basis.”
The partnership with Sport Nova Scotia offers a wide range of benefits. Provincial Sport Organizations and their member associations can make use of Goalline’s services at a reduced rate, while the company can also work to promote Sport Nova Scotia initiatives across its network.
“We can work hand in hand to create more awareness across sport organizations,” Johnson says.
Goalline looks forward to working with more sport organizations as part of its ever-expanding network across the continent.
“It’s really exploded,” Johnson says. “Obviously we’re proud to be from the Halifax area and developing something like this.”
