Community Sport Development

In August of 2010, Sport Nova Scotia partnered with the Department of Health and Wellness to establish a pilot program in the Annapolis Valley Region. A Community Sport Development Coordinator was hired with several objectives for the region: to build relationships and collaborate with community sport organizations (affiliated with Sport Nova Scotia's members, the Provincial Sport Organizations) as well as with schools and community groups; to identify new opportunities; to support the continuation of existing programs; and support the creation of new sustainable sport opportuniites.

In August of 2011, based on the success of the pilot, Sport Nova Scotia was excited to expand the partnership with the Department of Health and Wellness to cover four new regions across the province:

  • Utilize the regional database to connect with the regional Community Sport Organizations, coaches, schools, recreation departments and Provincial Sport Organizations
  • Collaborate on initiatives and share information between Community Sport Organizations, Provincial Sport Organizations, and recreation departments throughout your region

Connect your Community Sport Organization to the Provincial Sport Organization

  • Help establish a relationship and provide a link between the regional Community Sport Organizations and the Provincial Sport Organizations for additional support, information and resources
