Event History

In an effort to encourage activity and healthy lifestyles amongst Nova Scotia’s youth, Sport Nova Scotia introduced the first sport fair as an interactive exhibition of sport in 2002 at Exhibition Park in Halifax.  In 2003, Sport Nova Scotia promoted the event to elementary and Jr. high schools throughout Halifax Regional Municipality as an option for school field trips.  Themed “find a sport that fits,” the event attracted thousands of students throughout the region.  Dairy Farmers of Canada joined forces with Sport Nova Scotia as the event’s title sponsor and the “Milk Sport Fair” was born.   The Milk Sport Fair remained in HRM until a second annual event was introduced in the fall of 2005 at Cape Breton University.  The event was a huge success with more than 3,300 students attending. Since then, the Milk Sport Fair is hosted twice a year (spring and fall) in communities throughout Nova Scotia. More than 60,000 students, teachers and parents have experienced the excitement of amateur sport through Milk Sport Fair events in Halifax, Sydney, Yarmouth, Wolfville, Antigonish, Amherst, Berwick, and Truro.
