Coaches

Applicants are encouraged to read the eligibility information noted here and ensure they meet or exceed the criteria before making an application. Upon meeting the eligibility criteria, complete the appropriate application form, and submit it along with  all requested supplementary information.

Coach funding allocations are determined by a subcommittee of the Sport Fund consisting of representation from the Sport Fund Committee, the Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic, and Nova Scotia Health Promotion and Protection.  Applications are reviewed on a monthly basis.  All selections and allocations are final.  The subcommitte retains the right to alter allocations where commitments have not been met.

How Do I Apply?

Potential applicants should

  • check the eligibility criteria for the category in which you wish to apply
  • choose the appropriate application
  • identify a project/initiative for which you are requesting financial assistance
  • complete all of the questions asked in the application
  • acquire the endorsements of your Provincial Sport Organization (and personal coach where necessary)
  • attach all of the references and supplementary information requested
  • submit complete applications before the deadline to:

When Can I Apply?

The Sport Fund subcommittee accepts applications on an ongoing basis, with applications reviewed monthly. Only complete applications will be considered. Ensure that all supplementary information (e.g., budget support documentation, references, endorsements, signatures, etc.) is included with your submission.

Am I Eligible?
The Sport Fund Allocation Committee reviews and publishes eligibility criteria for each of the award categories. Potential applicants should ensure they meet or exceed the noted eligibility criteria before submitting an application for financial assistance:

COACHES must:
  • Be normally a Nova Scotia resident,
  • Be affiliated with a community-based sport program,
  • Be currently coaching a Nova Scotia team or club at PSO sanctioned competitions,
  • Hold a minimum of 3M NCCP Level 2 full certification,
  • Be in good standing with Provincial Sport Organization/Application endorsed by PSO (using the forms provided), such PSO to be in good standing with Sport Nova Scotia,
  • Have a record of ethical behaviour and sound leadership,
  • Be requesting funding that will fulfill a need not already supported by existing programs, (e.g., NSO, National Team support; PSO funding; Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic; Canada Games Management Group's Technical Standards Implementation Program).
