– January’s Cleve’s Source for Sports Female Individual Athlete of the Month honours have been awarded to 17 year-old Kirsten Angus
of Bedford. The weightlifter recently competed at the Canadian Junior Weightlifting Championships in Brossard, Quebec where she had a bronze medal performance in the 69kg category. The result marked the first national medal in weightlifting by Nova Scotia in over 20 years.
of Kentville has been named the Cleve’s Source for Sports Female Team Athlete of the Month. The 18 year-old rising hockey star was a member of Team Canada at the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championships in Přerov and Zíln, Czech Republic. Pettet tallied two goals and three assists in five games to help lead Canada to a silver medal finish.
has been named the Cleve’s Source for Sports Male Team Athlete of the Month. The
17 year-old Coldbrook native captained Team Canada at the inaugural U18 North American Football Championship in Orlando, Florida. Ross was a standout player for Team Canada starting at both fullback and on special teams.
Cleve’s Source for Sports Team of the Month honours has been awarded to the Revolution Juvenile Synchronized Skating Team
of the Kentville Gliders Figure Skating Club. The Revolution won gold at the Atlantic Region Synchronized Skating Championships in Conception Bay, Newfoundland with a score of 32.29.
The Athlete of the Month program is administered by Sport Nova Scotia, whose members are eligible to nominate athletes for the awards. A membership committee selects the award recipients for five possible categories: Male Individual Athlete, Female Individual Athlete, Male Team Athlete, Female Team Athlete, and Team.
