Sanford and Dickie win June

Cleve’s Source for Sports Athlete of the Month honours

HALIFAX, NS (July 21, 2017) – Wyatt Sanford of Kennetcook has been named the Cleve’s Source for Sports Male Individual Athlete of the Month. The 18 year-old boxer clinched gold in the 64 kilogram Elite Male Division at the Haringey Boxing Cup in London, England. The result marked Sanford’s best finish at an international competition since 2012. Sanford currently trains with the Canadian National Elite Team in Montreal.

The Cleve’s Source for Sports Male Team Athlete of the Month is awarded to Evan Dickie of Enfield. Dickie, 26, captained the Nova Scotia Senior Men’s Keltics to a gold medal at the 2017 Eastern Canadian Rugby Championships in St. John’s. Dickie is also a member of the Enfield RFC.

The Athlete of the Month program is administered by Sport Nova Scotia, whose members are eligible to nominate athletes for the awards. A membership committee selects the award recipients for five possible categories: Male Individual Athlete, Female Individual Athlete, Male Team Athlete, Female Team Athlete, and Team.
